Westcool Refrigeration was a small independent start-up commercial refrigeration business based in Claremorris, County Mayo, which provided installation and repair services for refrigeration systems in commercial premises or temperature controlled transportation vehicles nationwide.
The initial brief to Zetagram* by the client was to design a new logo and corporate identity style to work on two different types of van.
The client had already decided on the business name 'Westcool Refrigeration' and specified a preference for the logo to look like an iPhone app icon, in the same square format and with a 'lickable' 3D gel effect.
Working within these parameters Zetagram developed a logo motif arrangement based around the W of Westcool.
After competitor research and analysis, the design route was steered away from clichéd polar bears and penguins and was based around a snow-capped mountain, using the W in the negative space. The logotype text was formed from a carefully selected font, with asterisk characters used to represent snowflakes.
The final logo arrangement was given a 3D treatment and worked as a self-contained badge on both light and dark backgrounds. The design was applied to custom designed business cards and stickers for networking and promotion.
The white and silver van designs featured the square 3D logo and an arrangement of asterisk characters to represent snowflakes. To tie the two vans together the silver van had white snowflakes and the white van had silver snowflakes.
To provide an online web presence Zetagram designed and built a cost-effective XHTML single page website, to provide further information on products and services, and contact details for enquiries and emergencies.
