DESCRIPTION:

Phoenix Total Well-Being was a small, independent health and fitness business based in Claremorris, County Mayo, which offered martial art & fitness classes, shiatsu massage and acupuncture treatments.

The initial brief to Zetagram* by the client was to create a new logo corporate identity design to present the business to a wide local target audience, and to make the business look more professional.

After local competitor research and analysis, Zetagram visited the business premises to assess the needs of the design and marketing material. From this first visit it was clear that there were two different aspects to the business, these were Fitness (martial arts and fitness training) and Relaxation (shiatsu and indian head massage).

Bearing in mind the traditional eastern philosophy to the well-being of the mind and body at the core of the business, Zetagram approached the design of the logo with a Japanese theme.

The main symbol motif was of an enhanced crane drawing to represent the phoenix, with illustrations depicting the fire side of the Fitness element, and water for the Relaxation aspect of the business. These were tied together under Mount Fuji with sourced Japanese typography. The logotype itself was a carefully selected font to use as a theme throughout the corporate identity.

To engage with the wide local target audience, ranging from the very young for junior martial arts classes, up to the senior and infirm for the healing massage treatments, the style was very diverse with bright colours and family oriented.

The main multi-page brochure was split into two parts with a fitness side and a relaxation side, and was illustrated with adapted stock imagery and eastern patterns.

To promote the various classes and services, Zetagram designed a range of marketing material including leaflets, flyers, postcards, clothing designs, posters, window displays and signage.

For the business fascia, the outside of the building was initially signwritten in a japanese style and the windows partially obscured with decorative frosted vinyl.

To provide an online presence, an XHTML blog-style website was custom designed and built using an open-source content management system framework, with brochure information pages and blog entries posted by the client.
